What are Soft Claws:

Developed by a veterinarian, Soft Claws are vinyl nail caps that glue on to your dog's nails.  This amazing product effectively blunts your dog's nails to protect against problem scratching.
Soft Claws protect against the following situation:
  • Damage to household surfaces such as floors, doors, screens, walls and furniture.
  • Canine skin conditions that are aggrevated by scratching.
  • Protect you and your loved ones from scratches from your dog.

Puppy Grooming:

Grooming should begin right away. This should begin in the home or at the groomer. As soon as a puppy is removed from the breeder it should be bathed(yes this is OK under 6 month). Pets should always be bathed with shampoo made for them. Never use human shampoo on an animal.

This is an important part of a puppy's development. They need to be acclimated to these tools long before their first trip to the groomer. Brushing helps to clean the coat, stimulate oils in their skin and also remove loose hair. Many clients tell us they do not brush them because the pet does not like it.If the animal learns as a puppy brushing is necessary, it makes grooming appointments less stressful not only for the groomer, but also the animal. They should see brushing as a form of affection.

Nail trimming should begin as soon as possible. Puppy nails are pointed and extremely sharp. They can scratch owners as well as flooring and furniture. Nails should be trimmed every 4-6 weeks through out their lives. When nails are not routinely trimmed, they can grow very long and disfigure the foot permanently.

Tips for less stress grooming.

 - It is helpful to rub a puppy's paws frequently so that they may get used to having them touched during grooming. For example trimming, nail clipping, and shaving foot pads will tickle less if they are used to having their paws handled.
